Porcelain Crowns

Natural Elegance: Achieving Seamless Aesthetics with Porcelain Dental Crowns

There are many reasons why dental crowns have a name fit for royalty. Dental crowns have many cosmetic and functional uses in dentistry. Dental caps replace missing teeth, restore damaged or decayed teeth, and cosmetically improve unappealing teeth. Even more, dental crowns serve these needs while maintaining the natural esthetics of your smile.

Need a dental crown in New York, New York? There’s no better office to have your restoration than Park Avenue Dental. Our dentist, Dr. Mary Taudel, uses her artistic skills, cutting-edge technology, and professional-grade materials to craft high-quality porcelain crowns.

What to expect from dental crown treatment

Whether you want regular dental cleaning or restorative dental care, we always make your dental experience pleasurable. From our friendly dental team to our spa-like office, we strive to deliver dentistry like you’ve never seen before!

When you come to our office for a crown, the first step is a consultation with Dr. Taudel. We always want to know you as a person as we learn your smile concerns. If we establish that a dental crown can resolve your dental issues, restoring your smile will involve the simple steps below.

  • Tooth preparation: After numbing your tooth, we’ll reshape it by carefully removing enamel from around the tooth. This step ensures your crown snugly fits over your tooth for better function and aesthetics. Next, we take impressions of your prepped tooth and the surrounding dentition to help our partner lab when fabricating your crown
  • Temporary crown: Before you leave, we’ll place a provisional crown on your prepped tooth until you receive the permanent crown. Remember, we use temporary adhesives to bond your temporary crown in place. Be gentle when cleaning or chewing around it. Additionally, don’t delay replacing it. This restoration isn’t secured with permanent adhesives, so it can loosen, exposing your tooth to harmful bacteria and sensitivity
  • Placement: Once your crown arrives at our office, we’ll inform you to schedule an appointment for placement. During your second appointment, we’ll remove the temporary one, clean your tooth, and try the new crown. We’ll make a few adjustments before using strong dental cement to secure the crown to your tooth

Our porcelain crowns look, function, and feel like natural teeth. Once in place, other people won’t distinguish it from other teeth. You’ll also forget you are wearing your crown because it fits comfortably and feels natural.

Caring for your porcelain crown

Our dental crowns can last over 15 years but need proper maintenance for long-term durability. Fortunately, taking care of dental crowns isn’t cumbersome.

Here are tips to keep your crowns looking their best.

  • Brush your teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste
  • Floss daily before bedtime
  • Visit your dentist every six months
  • Don’t use your crowned teeth to chew hard substances and open packages
  • Wear a mouthguard during sports or at night if you brux teeth
  • Avoid tobacco products
